  1. Hey Bruce

I’m trying to formulate a diagram for the control schemes available for TF2. This is what I gather from watching your videos. Does that look correct? Also what are the differences between #4 and #6 ?

    Thank you very much

    • Hi Christain!

Yeah, that Doc looks pretty accurate. These were my notes from that experience:

      0: Head controls everything!
1: Head controls aim, mouse controls torso (and HUD), move with torso.
2: Head controls aim, drag the torso with big turn, move where you look
3: Default, mouse controls aim (keyhole) & torso. Move where you look.
4: Mouse controls aim (keyhole) and controls torso, move with torso. Head looks around.
5: Head controls aim, Mouse controls torso, move with torso.
6: Mouse controls aim and controls torso, move with torso. Head just looks around.
7: Mouse controls everything, no head tracking. TV attached to your face!
      8: It’s a surprise!

4 has keyhole for the mouse (you can move the mouse aim in the middle of the screen without turning), while 6 does not have keyhole for the mouse.

Thank you for the rapid reply Bruce!

I’m really enjoying your VR videos. They are very insightful, and I was wondering what sort of background you have ?
I’m doing quite a bit of VR research myself in preparation for integrating OR with this underwater exploration game that we’re working on:

Any suggestions and criticism would be greatly appreciated

      • Hi Christian,

        Thank you for watching!

My background is in science education and tech support, although I have dabbled in a lot of things. ๐Ÿ˜€
I currently work as the Program Director for a technology summer camp at a museum. Its fantastic!

UnderCurrent looks very atmospheric, just the type of game that would be a wonderful experience in the Rift. If the mask/frame is positioned just right so that the player can barely see the edges of it, it may fool the brain into thinking the Rift is a scuba mask or something similar. ๐Ÿ˜€ The use of sound is also a plus. If it sounds convincing in earphones, it will nearly sound real in the Rift.

        Keep up the good work!

Hey, I was wondering if you could do a Tribes ascend test. Since the game goes so absurdly fast I was wondering if its even playable.

Also time yourself before you start. I want to know how long it takes for you to throw up.

Hi there.. although I have seen your general reaction to Horror games ๐Ÿ™‚ just wanted to ask if you might be able to give Zombies on the Holodeck a go during one of your live streams or on a video

    Would like to see reactions.

    • Unfortunately, I was not able to get a video done in time for the article because of other obligations, but I will certainly give it a go for a video or during stream – its a fantastic demo!

Thanks for this compiled list! Can’t wait to go through some of them when my rift dev kit arrives.. in Aug ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
